...They Missed Kirk Cameron...

Well, technically they didn't because this video was completed prior to Kirk's interview, but in dire need of publicity for some reason, he tried to make the inevitable round 2 of this list.

He's entitled to his opinion but personally, I think the most destructive thing to civilization would probably be a convinced moron with a platform and half a plan. No offense to politicians.

Hopefully the Piers Morgan show can pull their ratings up so they don't have to resort to this sort of stupidity. Or if not, they can always book Rush Limbaugh, the new poster child for why birth control and/or easy access to abortions should always remain inexpensive and legal. Yeah, I said it.

Anyway, this video was put together by Lambda Legal. It is not a spoof, but real content from real idiots.

In case you missed Kirk Cameron's comments, you can watch the video below, or view it here.

And why does everyone always bring Adam and Eve into this?

The bible is a book. A book has editors. There are multiple versions and numerous printings of each version of this particular book.

And even though some newer publications of the various versions include the word "wife," the very old , falling apart, gold-letters-fading-off-the-front-cover bible that belonged to my grandmother doesn't say anything to suggest they were ever married. It just says God brought Adam a woman and they became one.

Sounds like fornication to me.

They had kids, too. Certainly doesn't seem very Christianly if they weren't married but, okay. Who are we to  judge, right?

Then there's Sodom and Gomorrah.  I always thought the point of this story was that it's bad to get drunk, party in the streets, and then show up on your neighbor's front step asking to get it on with their houseguests. It doesn't matter if they were men, women, or children; it seems fairly unacceptable behavior.

Much like getting drunk and having sex with your daughters.

Of course, most versions of the bible place the blame on the daughters trying to preserve the family lineage. Because that's just the sort of thing daughters think about, preserving the family lineage. I'm a daughter, and it's the first thing on my mind when I wake up and the last thing on my mind before I go to sleep. That, and that freakin' Unicorn Song. And I'm only telling the truth about one of those.

I once heard someone say something to the effect that the biggest obstacle between people and the love of God is so-called Christians, with their misinformation and outright lies.

Everyone likes to swear they know Jesus and Jesus knows them, but these same people can’t seem to get their story straight about whatever it is they swear Jesus wants us to know. That’s probably because most of them haven’t really read the bible and/or their interpretation of it isn’t even their own.

Let’s not forget Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, better known as the Underwear Bomber, said during his trial, "The Mujahedeen are proud to kill in the name of God and this is exactly what God told us to do in the Koran. … The situation of one who believes in Allah is always good … it's always a win-win situation."

I think it’s good to believe in things, but if your belief tells you to hate, dismiss, or kill someone then that’s not coming from God.

When it comes from God it will come with something to stand firm on, but it will allow you to be flexible enough to not break – or worse, break others. We must be individuals who respect individuality but we must do this while we listen, learn, love and be kind.

I wonder if maybe the most destructive thing to civilization is living life by convenient theories that happily correspond with your chosen way of living and always insisting we are right about our choices. I think we do much better to start with a good foundation, but challenge what we think we know and explore life outside the boundaries.

I understand having a concern about the way things are in the world, I do. But you don't make the world a better place by trying to restrict the life and love of others. Unless someone is being hurt or involved involuntarily then it probably doesn't concern you.  Overall, the world will not be a better place if you convince everyone to think exactly as you think, especially since, frankly, you might be a hot mess yourself.

Scariest thing I came across while editing this post and making sure I wasn't remembering stuff wrong from the bible...

When her family was at a restaurant one night, Beth heard two young girls at the next table talking. One girl was saying that a young man had taken her to a party and, after convincing her to drink a huge big bunch of "booze," put his penis in her. Now the woman had a baby growing in her tummy. That made Beth think of a question.

Later, when they were away from others who might be embarrassed, Beth asked her mother a question. "Mother," she asked, "isn't it wrong to get someone drunk so that you can have sex with them?" ...

"To God," Beth's mother told her, "children are the most important thing. It doesn't matter how a baby starts growing in a woman's tummy. Having sex when one of the people is drunk is much better than never having a baby grow in a woman at all."
